- A look ahead with what's left of our UNICEF year: we will have 2 meetings in April (April 2 and 23) focusing on our final themes of Poverty and Earth Day. Our final meeting will be on May 21 and will solely be for celebratory purposes!
- Once we secure an adviser for next year, we may initiate some new leadership positions. A lot of you expressed interest in gaining a higher office, and we will be discussing the transition process more at our next meeting.
- This month's featured topic is: water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH, if you will). Inadequate access to safe water and sanitation services, coupled with poor hygiene practices, kills and sickens thousands of impoverished children every day. Girls, in particular, are forced to spend large parts of the day fetching water. UNICEF works with more than 100 countries to improve supplies and facilities leading to sustainable development.
- We split up into two teams this meeting and played a whole game of Jeopardy, UNICEF style. Congrats to Team 1! You all certainly deserved those bragging rights!
- This month, we have a special featured campaign, in honor of WASH- the Tap Project. Check out the video above for an overview of what it is and how it works. Simply setting your phone down for 15 minutes can provide a day of clean water for a child in need. All you need to do is go to tap.unicef.usa.org to begin. Make sure to take screenshots of all of your times this month, because at the next meeting, the top two people who spent the most time will be awarded a gift certificate of a dozen free donuts, kindly provided by Donut Scene.
